Is this an article from The Onion???

This article feels like a joke. Or it's the interview that was a joke, or it's Good Ol Prez that is phucking with us, but somewhere, there's a jokester.

ABC News' Charlie Gibson Interviewed G.W. Bush today to reflect on the past (His presidency) and the present (Obama getting elected). Here is what was said:

From ABC News: Bush on the Iraq War...

Looking back on his eight years in the White House, President George W. Bush said he was "unprepared" for war and pinpointed incorrect intelligence that Iraqi President Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction as "biggest regret of all the presidency."

"I think I was unprepared for war," Bush told ABC News' Charlie Gibson in an interview airing today on "World News." "In other words, I didn't campaign and say, 'Please vote for me, I'll be able to handle an attack,'" he said. "In other words, I didn't anticipate war. Presidents -- one of the things about the modern presidency is that the unexpected will happen."

Shut up, Mr. Bush. Just SHUT UP. You wanted this war, you wanted your Saddam Hussein, that much is clear. You jumped at it, you loved it, and now you don't because it's like a migraine that just won't go away. So please, sit down.

Bush on the economic crisis...

President George W. Bush expressed remorse that the global financial crisis has cost jobs and harmed retirement accounts and said he'll back more government intervention if needed to ease the recession.

"I'm sorry it's happening, of course," Bush said in a wide-ranging interview with ABC's "World News," which was airing Monday. "Obviously I don't like the idea of people losing jobs, or being worried about their 401(k)s. On the other hand, the American people got to know that we will safeguard the system. I mean, we're in. And if we need to be in more, we will."

God, I hope this guy doesn't end up writing his own book. Dear God, just do it with a tape recorder, or better yet, just let Karl Rove write it. This last sentence, it's like I can just hear his southern Texas "Everyman" speak through it. Does this guy only talk in generalities, or what? it's like he just comes up with these big, reassuring messages. "We're in." And wait!! "if we need to be in more, we will"!! Wow, I feel better already. Bush is finally backing us up. Phew.

Bush on helping lose the election for McCain...

President Bush told an interviewer that his presidency may have helped Barack Obama win the White House.

"I think it was a repudiation of Republicans," he told Charlie Gibson of ABC News, according to a transcript released by the network Monday. "And I'm sure some people voted for Barack Obama because of me. I think most people voted for Barack Obama because they decided they wanted him to be in their living room for the next four years explaining policy."

Wait, did they vote against you, or for Obama? It sounds like he's basically admitting that he caused the Republicans' loss, but then backtracks because, well, that doesn't sound to good to say that at the end of your presidency.

And we voted for Obama "because [we] wanted him to be in [our] living rooms explaining policy?" Well, I hope I didn't vote for him so he could make me pancakes, yes, so I hope he will be involved in policy. That's right, Captain Obvious. Also, I hope Bush understood that this whole "Being President" thing is not just about explaining away what you did, but really, you know, doing things to help our country go from stalled to "forward".

Phew. That's the most typing I've done on THIS president.

  1. Wow. I was thinking about becoming a Jiggerbug customer. But you're so uncharitable. So willing to presume evil intentions on the part of another person whose heart you cannot really know. So unwilling to forgive bad decisions. In its tone, it's like reading some screed from Rush Limbaugh. I'm not sure I can become a customer now. I really need to think about this.

  2. I hope you get this note, because you have not listed your email for me to reply.

First of all, I have nothing to do with Jiggerbug anymore, not since 2006, so your opinion about me should not affect your becoming a Jiggerbug customer. Besides, with Jiggerbug you can read great self-improvement audiobooks, we can all gain from it.

Regarding your comment, please, this president is getting away VERY easily. He's passed laws to protect him and his people from being put on trial. This is a president who should be considered a war criminal. You may have voted for him, you may feel strongly for him and maybe you felt strongly for McCain, but I didn't and this is one way I am expressing myself, here, on my Blog. Feel free to start your own and send me the link to it, by all means. I'd like to see you defend Mr. Bush. However, I would also like to think further and start talking about the present and future, and that's what Mr. Obama will do for us. We can stay frustrated about the past, but that's gone now. I believe we can make great changes for the better of the US and the world.

    Have a happy holidays.
